Yup, Devilman is pretty awesome. Ending is very seinen-like too. Definitely something to be recommended!

I've read the two chapters available of Nineteen a long time ago, I didn't know there was an anime version of it.
I'd say "Dead End" is an underrated title, since I don't see many comments on it, but since it got a licensed English version, maybe it's mroe famous than I know. "Smuggler" as well.

I recommend Lone Wold & Cub it's quite good and exactly what you are looking for. Almost all samurai manga are still copying LW&C. It's kinda like one of manga godfathers. Btw, if you recommend a manga, why not uploading it as well?

Even Frank Miller ripped off Lone wolf and Cub. It's epic.

Concerning at least Akira: I want to share and find all seinen manga that are good but are heard of by few people. I thought this was unknown greatness, stuff that doesn't really get as famous as they should. Akira, both anime and manga is a well-known classic, so... (Not that there's anything wrong with listing the great ones, even if not unknown). Another title for the mix: Hanaotoko, by Taiyo Matsumoto. (dunno if it's well-known or not)

^Somehow I can't get myself to like Domu. I wonder why.
Now, Uncivilized Planet and Tropical Citron are a must. Jiro Matsumoto is great.
I never heard of Undecided nor Bakune Young. Suicide Island, Drifiting Classroom and Dawn Chilly Hands are on my reading list, but I still haven't tried them.
What about 7 Seeds, by Tamura Yuki? It's josei, but hey...

suicide island is very "lord of the flies"/"battle royale"ish
Undecided reminds me a lot of "keep on vibrating" it's a bunch of shorts with a art style similar to jiro
Bakune Young is a must read, it's a mix of The World is Mine and a Taiyo Matsumoto manga, it's just so damn funny and insane. It's about this insane maniac who after an indecent at a pachinko parlor decides to go after the yakuza and eventually holds a bunch of senior citizens hostage for about a trillion dollars.

Ohikkoshi is also pretty good. Hiroaki Samura knows his stuff too.
If I remember correctly, Voyeur and Voyeur Inc were uploaded in a (not so) recent post on mydailymanga. I tried to download it, but my connection at the time had some issues and I couldn't get it.

^Remote is the second worst manga I've ever read in my entire life... Saikano's good. Telephatic Wanderes is ok. The rest of them I haven't read yet, though I started reading Samurai Executioner a while ago. In any case, another good one is Ryuguden scanlated by the ever amazing Manga Screener.

Remote kinda bored the hell out of me. It was too predictable like "most" female focused manga with from male authors. I actually read a lot of the manga that has been listed. I haven't read Anuki so I will check that out later. Tuesday, 9PM http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=33303 About a dude with a new female roomate. DoLL (OKADO Tatsuya) http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=33468 About an old man with some dolls. These two I found to be pretty interesting. I don't know if this has acquired popularity or not. Goodnight PunPun http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=11346 Its about about PunPun.

Dunno, I can't find one single thing to like about Remote. If Jigoku Shoujo wasn't the worst manga in history, then it'd be Remote. I feel like killing the mangaka and damning him to hell for existing. ¬¬' @ krizzx: Tuesday, 9PM is nice, it's on my "someday I'll translate this to portuguese" list. (it's a long list of titles and never ending lazyness) The other two titles you mentioned are unknown to me as of yet. What do you guys think of 3x3 Eyes? It's a bit shounen-ish, but still, story wise I think it has quite some interesting developments. Points up for the creativity factor.

It's a bit shounen-ish, but still, story wise I think it has quite some interesting developments. Points up for the creativity factor. I haven't read the Jigoku Shoujo manga but I watched the anime. If it was anything like the anime then it definitely is terrible. Every episode is the exact same thing over and over again. Cue some extreme cliche dramatic event of Japanese society(bullying, debt, sports, illness), cue one character having an awkward relationship with the main character, cue random nonsense flashes and events then other character sailing in a boat. Desire http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=10992 looks pretty interesting so far. I need a few more chapters to tell. Yuutai Nova http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=13422Not sure if this has picked up popularity yet but it is one of my favorites at the moment. I just wish they would release more faster. 3.3.7. Byooshi http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=701 Anime Waves has started back working on it. For the moment. Tokyo 80s http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1426 Another with only two chapters translated. The group is dead and they stopped working on it long before that happened.

^Shin Angyo Onshi is good. The anime movie is kind of sucky, but the manga is definetely worth trying, imo. EDIT: There's also "Mirai Nikki", which's released on a shounen magazine but it should be cathegorized on the seinen side, if you'd ask me.

^There's also "Island" from the creators of Shin Angyo Onshi. Overral I prefer SAO, but it's good as well.
I didn't put more adjectives with SAO because since there are different tastes and all, maybe it won't be so much to one's liking, but it's among my favorite titles, though not in the "super-ultra-favorite" circle (in which you'd find Monster, which doens't fit in the unknown greatness).

I actually regard Shin Angyo Onshi as common mainstream and not of "unknown greatness"... Fell in love with the Miyazaki mangas I found on mydailymanga... I wish there would be more like this...

oh ok i get you now,. i tend to miss the point of posts :S but if someone thinks SAO is mainstream and thus bad, and doesnt read it for that reason - doesnt that make it "unknown greatness"!?

Righto.
Then, there's also "King of Bandit Jing", though the OVA "Seventh Heaven" is quite superior to the anime series, IMO.
What else...? ... I can't really think of anything for the moment. I'd say FLCL, but I guess it's not unknown.
BTW, "Dead Leaves" is my kind of thing, I've watched it last year.

Yes!!! Within the last 12 hours 3 chapters of Onanai Master Kurosawa have been released and 2 Yuutai Nova chapters. This has been a good 12 hours.
Replied: July 25, 2009, 09:08:39 AM Damn, I didn't see that coming. You should go pick up Onani Master Kurosawa.

Woah, they're even getting Dorohedoro. You know i've thinking this since back in 04 when I first really got into the fansub and scanlation scene I think that those companies are actually watching the scanlation group and fansub group to see whats popular so they can license it.
I wonder how much they are going to butcher Bokurano's plot instances animation. I doubt they'll show the scene where the girl that was being accused of being a prostitute finds out the girl that was accusing her sitting on top of a dude in a hotel room.

I don't remember that in the Bokurano anime (I watched the jap version).... Remember the anime is quite different from the manga.

I don't get what your saying. I'm talking about the manga. I rarely EVER watch anime adaptations of manga because the plot is butchered most of the time. Most of the things that are unique about manga that I like are replaced with more generic occurrences which usually counteracts the reason why the manga was adpated into an anime in the first place. They adapt because of it uniqueness then make it not unique. The last anime I watched that was made after a manga I was reading was Joshi Kosei. They butchered it everything straight from the beginning. They changed the intro plot to a make it more normal(Kouta and her friends weren't even there in the beginning. They already attended the all girls school). The personality changes were so vast that I wouldn't know where to begin in the final straw that made me just stop looking at it was the episode where that girls boyfriend broke up with her. They completely warped into some kinda almost rape thing where the girl punched the dude in the face and broke up with him at the end. It was nothing like that in the manga. In fact the manga had almost hard drama in it. That particular event was two parts that were a volume apart in the manga. The short girl that they had with him in the anime wasn't at neither event in the manga. What had happened was that they played a joke on her ex boyfriend and left him with a huge bill to pay for. There wasn't anything relating to rape, fighting or dramatic claims made during the event. I thought that watered berserk down and altered its plot a lot in the anime may but they just completely destroyed Joshi Kosei and Yume Tsukai.

I doubt viz will be censoring that scene, if they were releasing it under their shonenjump or shonenjump advance name than maybe. But it's being released under the ikki sig (which is being marketed to adults) and as far as can tell viz has never censored anything in their manga, especially their adult ones, only Darkhorse does that.
p.s. apparently the manga reader on viz's site is only available to the US and Canada, so if anyone not from those countries want's to read it just ask and I'll take screenshots.

I can't believe I forgot this one Deadman http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=305This manga was made by the man who made Goldenboy. It hasn't been worked on for years though. Its got into the second volume and that was it. The plot really had me wanting to see more. This as well as Tokyo 80s and Junkboy are manga that I had always hoped someone would eventually pick up but sadly it never occured. Oh and I forgot that one too. Junk Boy http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=6281

Also check out Soil, it's scanlated by Kotohana.
Soil makes me hard, the covers alone are really amazing. Also by the same mangaka there's Bambi And Her Pink Gun. Unlike Soil it's all rockabillie/\punk hyper action and I really hope someone picks it up again.

Ping Pong Club http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=364 I would think that this would be more poplular but I never here or see anything about it. The group that released hasn't realeased ANYTHING in 2 years so I haven't been able to follow through. I was hoping someone would get past the point where the anime stopped because I wanted to see what the rest of the plot had in store. Route 20 http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=3436 A manga by one of the main guys behind Evangelion and Gunbuster. Its a one volume long manga but it really good. There is an anime pilot for it but no anime was ever made.

Err... I'm sorry for my bad english >.< What about Hoero Pen?It's a story about a mangaka named Honno. It's hilarious & funny, but I loved how the story turn to heroic. I enjoyed reading this very much I think it's better than Bakuman too.. Actually, this is a sequel to Moeyo Pen, & is a prequel of Shin Hoero Pen, but I haven't read the other two yet..

Its been so long since I've seen a scanlation release for either of their works that I had started to forget about them. Then I went through my old folders and came across Arigatou and it reminded me to check in on the releases for them. The most recent scanlations from them were Gakuen heaven and Anjuu no Chi. Its been half a year since either of those have had any releases though. I don't think the groups are doing them anymore. What even better are http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=26433 this http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=40773. I had no idea that new Angels had started being released. And I like the style of the girl in the Angel 2 picture. Does anyone know where I can find some raws of these?

I know of Barbapappa from MangaScreener who wants to work with me together on Extremely K but it's hard to find a translator...
Good news: After one year of work, the first volume of Sleeping Planet comes out at the end of next month and we'll start on Sakuranbo Syndrome in 2 months...

Yes. I also have 2 oneshots of Naoki. Not sure what to do with them though... Kotonoha released a new chapter of The Music of Marie after 2 years again... It's about time Furuya Usamaru gets revisited...

Woah, you know the guys at Mangascreener? Whats with the year of inactivity? Have they lost all of their translators or something? That was one of the few place where I could expect the non Gal Game and harem type seinen manga to be released. I miss there releases, especially Boku to Issho. Its nice to hear the sleeping planet news. Whatever happened with Naturally Wet Sayaka? That may have just been a raw that someone post now that I think about it. I've also finally found a KITOH Mohiro manga that I can read without being turned off by the apatheticness. Owari to Hajimari no Miles do to it humor. I still don't like the taste of the character bland attitudes. I can't tell if they are serious or not. Like when they encountered that other spirit and he talking about doing destroying stuff and I was like, "Is he just giving an metphor or he is he actually going to do what he's saying?" EDIT: Viz just up a bunch of ikki stuff on their site, a lot of it never got scanlated, I love "I'll give it my all... tomorrow" and "Saturn apartments". also check out Soil, it's scanlated by kotohana. I just red I'll Give it My All from Viz's site. Yeah its pretty good. I didn't see that coming in the first chapter.

Aww damn, I didn't even know that Tsyudaku existed and to already have an dream of being translated crushed. Can I at least get general overview of what going on in it? Who's the women in front of all of monitors, who was the girl that was with the dude off in the woods, why did she get carried away and what the deal with that tree? EDIT: Oh, and do you know of any other series like this one in the raws section? The art style in this manga is kind of like looking at a mixture of Resentment and Iketeru Futari Though I'm suprised about Naturally Wet Sayaka. I thought that was pretty tame compared to other stuff that has been scanlated like Golden Boy, Futari Ecchi and most shoujo manga. The bulk of the content I saw it is was mostly low level ecchi with a lot of implied meanings and simulations. There were hardly even any breast shots in that. Though is from what I could tell it did seem that the plot was a lot more focused on those aspects than the other manga I named. Have you ever read the Ebichu manga or watched the anime? Replied: [time]Sun Nov 1 21:28:18 2009[/time]
Wow! Speak of the Devil. Mangascreen just made a release. You know is kinda strange because the exact same thing happened when I made a similar comment about Geisha not too long ago and Kotonoha before that? Groups that hadn't released in such a long time made one right shortly after I comment about it in this thread. Maybe this thread is a good luck charm. I wonder if it'll work with other group? Hey, PRISMS suuurrrreeeee hasn't released anything in a while. I miss old Hanashi. I sure could go for some Honeymoon Salad right now.

I'm starting to wonder if people that read manga really can't figure out half the stuff that about the happen from layers of forshadowing and general manga trends like me especially when it comes to shounen manga. The reason I can't read shounen manga is because everything is so obvious. Most of the use the same formual that plays out in the same way.
Then their are instances in seinen manga that ,while they aren't as predictable as in shounen manga, still tend to follow a trend. Like in No Bra. Its obvious that Yuuki is really a girl and that the dude is going to find that out later yet they list the manga as shounen-ai on mangaupdates. You can tell by the way ever major event end with him saying, "but Yuuki is a guy".
In most manga when someone says "I know XXXX is true" it turns out not to be and when they say "There is no way XXXX can happen to XXXX" it will happen. Like in that manga that EMS is doing that "If I see you in my dreams" or something like that, they do that ALL THE TIME. Dude walks off "she would never like/date/think about someone like me" then it turns out she does or "We have XXXX planned for this evening" and plans get canceled. That's a childish plot mechanic.
Then there is the abominable FORESHADOWING!!! which in most japanese manga is more of telling whats about to happen than alluding to something that's about to happen. Like when they go into a characters thoughts that they hardly ever show to clarify a misconception with a main character but in any or circumstances they never show you what the character is thinking. It usually is done at a part when less shown character is does something dirty. This is also done in "Yume de aeteru" and manga like Suzuki an Love Hina where you have a really bitchy female character that treats the main dude like ass. They always show the female thought only at points like that so she won't look villainous. Its sucks all the surprise out. Oh well, that's enough ranting for now.

Do you know the author Keiichi Koike ? He did Ultra Heaven for example : http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=8051. His books are now being published in France, that's how I knew of it. And in the end I bought almost all of 'em, I still need to find Spinoza at a decent price. Now, the true purpose of my presence here : would you be, hmm, interested, in doing an english scanlation of some of his work (namingly Ultra Heaven and G)? Considering that I can provide the raws (pre-edited or not) and a french translation (taken from the french release) if it can help ? Please tell me what you think of this proposal.

Yep. So is Himizu from the same author. Perhaps even better. Not fully scanlated though. I'd also like to recommend Mercenary Pierre. About a mercenary who served under Jeanne D'Arc. And one of my favorites is The Music of Marie.
