This is a trial thread, I notice that threads do go of into other conversations before returning to the on topic point. So, If you notice that a thread is going completely off-topic try to post in here. I realise that it is a bother to go to Chit chat then get ripped apart by the regulars there for making redundant posts, so that is another reason I have made this. Welcome to the next level of OT...
This thread has no limits to spam and decent conversation... If old OT ever gets closed down this will be the refugee camp...

Never did like furries since my first time hearing about them like 7 years ago but I've recently seen a few that peeked my interest. Can someone point me in the direct of some of the better works in this genre?

I can see that politics here are as usual; without Cali, the nation has gone in disarray because Umehara-sama no longer has a figure head scapegoat. His fiscal policies were never a solution for our current ailments anyways, reducing posts and what not.
I demand a new election.

The state of the sharing is in upheaval but all is so quiet here.
How do you run out topics when the topic is everything?

since you mention it...i've never heard of cuba as surfing spot.ever. Yeah, they have shitty equipment. But I do windsurfing, not wave surfing. Plus, they are still a socialist country, so no teachers or instructors there. They even still give out that socialist diving pass there if you learn diving on Cuba, which is useless in every other country (except Russia)... Windsurfing also lost a lot of people to Kitesurfing now, though it's fucking difficult to do. 80% of the people who do Kitesurfing are amateurs who never have enough time to master their sport art to do it professional. I saw a Kitesurfer on the Cuban beach who lost his board and his Kite was down in the ocean, he was struggling for 30 minutes to swim back to his board while his kite was permanently dragging him into the other direction. I told the cuban coast guard cause it was looking dangerous, and they just replied "he's okay".
But if you want to learn windsurfing, then it's pretty quick to adapt (maybe a week) and you are nearly professional after 2-3 weeks. It's easy to learn as snowboarding or riding a house.

It's one of the possibilities. Silv certainly thinks so. The increasing push towards commercial enterprises squeezing the freedom of the internet in their corporate fists is worrying. This has been coming for quite some time, though. In other news, DRIVE-BY TACKLING!

You will see that this week about 4-5 other scanlation groups will throw themselves on those popular series. And if not, then Mangafox will sponsor a group to do them... I doesn't matter at all. In other news, DRIVE-BY TACKLING! Tackle back!!

Mort, I didn't miss the obvious. But it does matter. For now scanlation has survived mainly because english manga companies haven't been organized enough in their fight against it. That any big group translating mainstream series gets killed puts a pretty big cap on the efficacy of scanlation.

English publishers were organized in the downfall of onemanga.com and mangatoshokan.com, 2 prominent online readers, of which mangatoshokan was an organized cooperation of scanlation groups to take down company online readers as onemanga and mangafox. After that it took only 2-3 months to make 10-15 new company online readers rise. (...and 1 scanlation group organized online reader, batoto.com.) The main problem are the online readers that can't be taken down. A scanlation group is always able to find new channels of distributing their work without online readers, may it be uploads, torrents or IRC. Maybe Mangastream seemed as the biggest group because they had a monopol on the Big 3 and other popular WSJ series, and they had the most readers. But from the output they weren't really big. Mangastream will continue to exist, but they will now focus on the popular titles left that they still can scan, like Air Gear, Breaker New Waves, Gantz, etc... and what else is on top of the popular list (and tbh there's a lot of crap that I don't even bother to testread). By tomorrow, some groups who get sponsored by online readers, like Mangazone, will have taken over Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, etc... and there's nothing that VIZ can do about it. It's like pushing a stick into an Ant Hill.

Yeah, because they were easy and organized targets to attack. Scanlation like most things follow a power law, and their difficulty comes in addressing the numerous small groups that keep minimal infrastructure (mainly because it's so easy to distribute without being accountable as you noted). Maybe Mangastream seemed as the biggest group because they had a monopol on the Big 3 and other popular WSJ series, and they had the most readers That's exactly the metric I was using, and is the more intuitive measure for readers than output. I don't understand why manga readers have been so important. There's so much infrastructure and risk you take on by hosting a reader, and as a leech it requires you to always have a good connection and patience. I still download my manga unless I'm on a foreign computer and don't have a fd handy. Maybe I grows old?

And now the popular titles are done by MangaZone, the artificial group that mangareader.net sponsors, located on servers in Turkey...
Quo Vadis VIZ? Every week you destroy a scanlation group, a new one will step in the following week...

This is probably because of the misconception (that I had too, of course) that by downloading it´s easier to be caught/the things you do are more illegal/there´s more proof. And laziness.(also, space :P). I know of course getting caught is pretty improbable, and who the heck would care if you illegaly download mangas (most of which aren´t even licensed in Germany...excluding the Big 3 etc.)? But with the appearance of Online Manga readers, it´s just less of a hassle... That´s at least my view on things.
