So, I was checked at the airport, they asked the questions, put the stickers on, and I proceeded to the X-Ray machine. Suddenly, the young security man comes to me: “Mira? Mira Awad?”

I almost told him: “No, you’re not mistaken, I see you put the right one on — the sticker for Arabs”, but I didn’t say that (security people have their humor extracted during their preparatory course). Now the dilemma. On the one hand it’s obvious the young man has just made my life easier by putting on the sticker for Jews. I turned into one of “ours,” or actually one of “yours.” A small sticker that carries with it such huge humiliation, and today even enfolds stupidity. Because since they cancelled the stickers with different colors, which we protested, they made new stickers with less recognizable differences to the inexperienced eye, and here they are embarrassing themselves with unaware patronizing like, “Let’s award you with the status of a privileged person!” — so you don’t say that we aren’t humane. By the way, it happend to me also last week, when a senior security man who wanted to “show off” (maybe you’ll say he wanted to joke around, but we’ve already concluded that he doesn’t know how to joke around, see earlier “extraction of humor”) and asked one of his employees to get me one of the “regular” stickers and then winked at me as he continued to speak him: “Can’t you see it’s Mira Awad?”

So, the conclusion is, if you’re Israeli and your name is Awad – you better be famous! If not, forget about the duty free! Yalla, I’m out of here. For now.

JERUSALEM (AFP) -- Israel carried out an air strike near Damascus airport overnight, targeting Iranian missiles destined for Hezbollah, a senior Israeli source said Sunday.

"The attack was very close to the airport, the target was Iranian missiles which were destined for Hezbollah," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Earlier the official Syrian SANA news agency accused Israel of carrying out the attack on the Jamraya military research center in the Eastern Ghouta region. It did not say if there were any dead or wounded.

"This new Israeli aggression is a clear attempt to alleviate the pressure on the armed terrorist groups after our army beat them back in several regions and after the army's victories on the road to recovering security and stability in Syria," said SANA.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights watchdog said residents in the area reported seeing aircraft when powerful blasts rocked the area, adding the raid had caused casualties.

There was no immediate comment from Israel or the United States.

If confirmed, the attack would be Israel's second this week against targets inside Syria and also its second this year on the Jamraya facility, following a Jan. 30 raid that angered Syrian allies Iran and Russia.

"This attack proves the direct involvement of the Israeli occupation in the conspiracy against Syria and its links with terrorist groups in the aggression supported by Western countries and some Gulf countries," SANA said.

Israel has frequently warned if Syria's stockpile of chemical weapons falls into the hands of arch-foe Hezbollah, a close ally of Assad's regime, it would be a casus belli.

Its most recent strike targeted a weapons shipment to the militant group Hezbollah overnight Thursday, US media reported, but the Jewish state has refused to confirm or deny the bombing.

A Lebanese diplomatic source said the strike destroyed surface-to-air missiles recently delivered by Russia that were being stored at Damascus airport.
