Hello, I was wondering if anyone could reccomend any student teacher mangas. Not any ecchi ones and with a female teacher and a male student.

Without ecchi? all I can think of is "Japan Tengu Party Illustrated"

I saw the anime. Is it different from the manga?

OH FUCK YES. the anime starts out relatively the same, but  From Kyoto on the whole thing changes and improves far beyond the anime,

Pro and con of having a spesific recommendation thread:

NOTE THIS: If you are looking for manga with a MAJOR* theme of:

Romance (almost all manga have a little romance. If you just love manga with romance as a major theme, skip this post.)
Ecchi

Or ANY theme of:

Smut
Yaoi/Yuri
Incest

You will NOT find it here. Usually. Those just don't seem to really interest me. If you see one here, it's because it's other attributes just make it that good.

*"Major theme" being the theme that was the reason the manga was written. For example, Akumetsu was not written for its comedic value, even if that's part of what makes it epic. More simply, if you had to pick just one genre that describes the manga, that would be its major theme.

1. This is my list of manga I have found to be, in my opinion, epic. In other words, I learned something from them.

Akumetsu - Extremely epic. (this came out BEFORE Death Note.) (I also like Wolf Guy, an ongoing by the same pair)
Until Death do Us Part - no specific reason.... Mamoru just makes it epic.
Gintama - It's hilarious, and you learn lots of little things about Japan. This is a manga full of comedy, as you can see from the chapter titles. Which are WAY TOO LONG. Funny, though.

2. This is my list of (usually short....ish.... well, relatively short) manga which get (or have gotten) me really impatient for the next release. Translation: If not epic, at least interesting manga. Or, to complicate it again, some of these manga had/have the POTENTIAL to be epic, but had rushed (or just bad) endings, or aren't complete enough to be called so.

Togari - as I said, this really COULD have been epic... but it seems like it was wrapped up in a hurry.
Togari Shiro - This seems to be the sequel to Togari, but I haven't found any releases.
Inugami - This seems like a sweet if blood-filled manga, however I have only read as far as the 7th volume.
Mirai Nikki - I read it as soon as it comes out.
Dawn - Tsumetai Te - This is one I really like. a.k.a. Dawn Chilly Hands
Baroque - By UEDA Shinsyu/Shinshu/Shinshuu.....same author as Dawn-tsumetai te
Jack Frost - confusing, yet so far good.
+Again - by Go Jin-Ho, same as Jack Frost.... I THINK it would be good, if I could find anything past the prologue.........
NIHEI Tsutomu series (BLAME, etc) - if they would only keep making sense toward their endings....
World Embryo - so far so good.....
Soul Eater - Ditto above.... a bit childish sometimes, but still good.
Grim Reaper - NOT as in Shinigami, グリム リーパー (Gurimu riipaa). I like every single one of the two available chapters :)
Most things by Minekura Kazuya are good. Like Saiyuki and Wild Adapter.
Things that appear in Zero Sum are also good.
Nurarihyon no Mago This is an original one (IMO), about youkai and humans.

This is all subject to my edits. I will update when I find new ones or something.

Thanks  :yay:

concerning Zannafar’s post:
No i cannot answer to it, at least not the question about other shows, i actually have the same question, but that doesnt mean that others can't either or that in future no new show fullfilling the criteria will pop up.

plus the forums activity without the sub-sections is ~2-3 posts per day if i've seen that correctly. so having no new ideas for one month doesn't mean the thread is dead.

when anyone finds out something the thread will definitely be alive again. (well, or if not, it will end up in the nirvana of the forumpages and no one got hurt)

Zannafar’s question was left unresponded for more than a month. And yes I read every single one of them.

Have YOU read the other recommendation threads? General recommendation thread is definitely what we need.

Your post actually confirms on things that I’d like to do here. For one, i’ll put ‘General’ in the title, and then if there are enough recommendations/discussion on one specific genre in this thread I will open a discussion thread (as I always do in the other section). But until then, this stays, and the others stays locked, and ‘ZOMG I will kill jCafe with this thread!!!1!!’ I don’t think so.

And since you asked so nicely and you seem very eager to respond to Zannafar’s post, DONE. :)

There are just too many 'recommend me some manga/novels' threads in the section. Some very good detailed recommendation just got buried under other threads.

i dont see the point in closing the older recommendation threads like my yandere recommendation. somne users might have known some more reccommendations but now the topic is closed.

shall i start again here? buried under several pages in the future? the yandere thrad was also a discussion thread if you had read it.

i makes no sense to copy everything from there and start anew here.

it will be a total mess anyways if all use just one thread for their recommendations.
a general recommendation thread is just wrong.
at least structure some after genre or demografie.
this thread kills a forum. and it will be ignore anyways and you know it. all that remains is more work for you closing the few threads that are posted anyways. it's not like there is a spam of recommendation threads.
and if there really is one thatssimilar to another, posting a link wont hurt.

at least
please reopen the yandere thread, so we can discuss other yandere manga.
this thread is not suited for discussions or specifics.

Ice, follow the 'psychological manga' and 'all sorts' links.

Another one that needs recommendation.... though I think the poster is long gone now. :P
:hi: Could someone recommend some mature manga with a hilarious story like My Balls or Angel (U-Jin)?

Spice and Wofl sounds interesting.

General Manga/Novels Recommendation thread
« Reply #1 on: October 13, 2009, 04:50:51 AM »
There are just too many 'recommend me some manga/novels' threads in the section. Some very good detailed recommendation just got buried under other threads.

This shall be the official manga recommendation thread. So post your questions and recommendation here.

To get good recommendation: (1) mention what kind of genre you like and are looking for; i.e. sports, games, romance, horror, fantasy, mystery, history, yaoi, yuri, ecchi, etc. (2) list down the titles of mangas you've read and you liked.
These kind of info would be a good starting point for other members to recommend you manga. The more info you give the better.

Some recommendations from previous threads.
Genre not really specified: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Action/mentally described well/sad love with happy ending
Yandere manga/anime
Manga/Novels, genre not specified
Harem manga
Psychological manga
Badass protagonist
Shounen and romance: 1, 2
Ecchi
Survival type horror
Strangest Genres put together
Regios type manga
Sushi o.o
Jump comics
Manga with furigana
Manga Recommendation Game
Characters with dramatic changes
Anatolia Story/Red River like manga
Romance and comedy 1, 2
All sorts
Unlicensed manga
Baseball

Since those threads have gotten their recommendation, I'm going to lock them, and if you really need to continue the recommendation from those threads, just quote the post and continue here.
