Hmm... in my opinion(although I don't read manga often, I think these are the best (shounen) mangas:

- Monochrome Factor

Okay.. This manga was adapted into an anime. HOWEVER, it is totally different from the anime and manga. Anime is just full of fillers (and with all shounen-ai between the two main characters.. Akira and Kurogane (if I'm not wrong). While the manga was packed with actions, the storyline is flowing quite smoothly, there isn't any shounen-ai and the art style is great too! :D highly-recommended.

- Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

I didn't played the PS2 game before. This manga is based on the PS2 game storyline (that's what I see from the Internet) and I feel that the art is average? for a shounen-manga standard. xD

hmm, i don't see any seinen or mature thread on red pucca's list.
So. If anyone could recommend me something good, i'll be grateful.  :headbunk:

Things i enjoy most:
-SF
-cyberpunk/post-apocalyptic
-manga with an unusual setting
-manga about music/art/making manga
-manga with psychological, mystery, supernatural, or philosophical elements
-manga with morbid humor and lots of grotesque

what i usually can't stand:
-slice of life
-school life
-sports manga
-bishonen, bishojo, loli
-really cliche plot
-really crappy drawings

Seinen/mature manga I liked:

Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Blame!, NOiSE, Biomega, Abara
Dorohedoro
Mushishi
Franken Fran
Fire Candy
Gantz
BECK
Zetman
Death Note
Liar Game
Tenjo Tenge
Change 123
20th Century Boys
Jackals
Bokurano
Skyhigh, Skyhigh Karma

I haven't read much, but the best I've read are Black Butler (Kuji...Kurijitsu...something japanese sounding) and Monster, the latter one is real good stuff, with a mature, realistic(sorta) story that I'm not used to seeing in anime and manga.
Black Butler = Kuroshitsuji. It certainly is one of the better mangas thanks to the mature content (no I'm not talking about the shounen-ai vibes in the background), but not the best imo (but I guess that depends on your taste). I completely agree with you on Monster though. Urgh, the withdrawal I had to go through after I finished that one ... ;_;

Once you read Monster you will suffer Monster anxiety. It stems from knowing that after you have read it, no other manga will be as good.

I have read a new manga called "SUPER-DREADNOUGHT GIRL 4946"

This manga is saying a love story of a 50m gaint girl and an ordinary boy
And they fight against the gaint monsters together.

http://www.mangafox.com/manga/super_dreadnought_girl_4946/

Actually I believe this manga will be popular in the future...
Please check before making new threads.  We already have a thread like this.

Yeah I'm looking for that kind of art style and in-depth creation to a manga but cannot seem to find anything quite like Vagabond except Blade of the Immortal?

Vagabound is just a lame knock-off compared to these:

Lone Wolf and Cub
Samurai Executioner
Zatoichi
Chidaruma Kenpou Onorera ni Tsugu
Satsuma Gishiden
The Legend of Kamui

I been watching for a while and I saw most of the recent ones besides yaoi. I just would like to have some good comedy ones to laugh to like GTO.

Anything done by Tsutomu Nihei. I've read a ton of cyberpunk manga and western comics, but his stuff is simply at the pinnacle of it all.
High School of the Dead. It's a lot more entertaining than any Holywood zombie apocalypse movies I've seen to date.
Evangelion. The original, not those other spinoffs. Although, the experience when reading it is different from reader to reader so it might not be as enjoyable for you as it was for me.
Ah! Megami-sama. It's where slice of life and magical girl meld perfectly. Maison Ikkoku is another slice of life masterpiece (minus the magical girl of course).
Yurusei Yatsura and Ranma1/2. They're downright hilarious. I think Rumiko might've been on some kind of medication at the time she was writing them.
InuYasha. I'm a big fan of Rumiko's so I feel compelled to mention it. The plot does drag on a bit, but the strong characters and relationships make up for it. At least give it a shot.
Enchanter. Nicely writen and quite addictive I find.
Bakuman. From the makers of Death Note. It's a manga about manga their mangaka. More interesting than I make it sound.
Katsu! A boxing manga by Adachi. A great mix of comedy, drama, romance and people punching the crap out of each other.
Full Metal Panic, Spice and Wolf and Kurenai are must reads in the Light Novel department. And maybe Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun if you like romantic comedies.
And finaly, this one's about "The man who will one day save Japan - no, the world... Maybe.": Golden Boy. It's a perv- er, man's bible.

That's it from me, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. I would've mentioned more, but my wrist is totaled after writing a 3500 word essay. -_-

Without ecchi? all I can think of is "Japan Tengu Party Illustrated"

OH FUCK YES. the anime starts out relatively the same, but  From Kyoto on the whole thing changes and improves far beyond the anime,

NOTE THIS: If you are looking for manga with a MAJOR* theme of:

Romance (almost all manga have a little romance. If you just love manga with romance as a major theme, skip this post.)
Ecchi

Or ANY theme of:

Smut
Yaoi/Yuri
Incest

You will NOT find it here. Usually. Those just don't seem to really interest me. If you see one here, it's because it's other attributes just make it that good.

*"Major theme" being the theme that was the reason the manga was written. For example, Akumetsu was not written for its comedic value, even if that's part of what makes it epic. More simply, if you had to pick just one genre that describes the manga, that would be its major theme.

1. This is my list of manga I have found to be, in my opinion, epic. In other words, I learned something from them.

Akumetsu - Extremely epic. (this came out BEFORE Death Note.) (I also like Wolf Guy, an ongoing by the same pair)
Until Death do Us Part - no specific reason.... Mamoru just makes it epic.
Gintama - It's hilarious, and you learn lots of little things about Japan. This is a manga full of comedy, as you can see from the chapter titles. Which are WAY TOO LONG. Funny, though.

2. This is my list of (usually short....ish.... well, relatively short) manga which get (or have gotten) me really impatient for the next release. Translation: If not epic, at least interesting manga. Or, to complicate it again, some of these manga had/have the POTENTIAL to be epic, but had rushed (or just bad) endings, or aren't complete enough to be called so.

Togari - as I said, this really COULD have been epic... but it seems like it was wrapped up in a hurry.
Togari Shiro - This seems to be the sequel to Togari, but I haven't found any releases.
Inugami - This seems like a sweet if blood-filled manga, however I have only read as far as the 7th volume.
Mirai Nikki - I read it as soon as it comes out.
Dawn - Tsumetai Te - This is one I really like. a.k.a. Dawn Chilly Hands
Baroque - By UEDA Shinsyu/Shinshu/Shinshuu.....same author as Dawn-tsumetai te
Jack Frost - confusing, yet so far good.
+Again - by Go Jin-Ho, same as Jack Frost.... I THINK it would be good, if I could find anything past the prologue.........
NIHEI Tsutomu series (BLAME, etc) - if they would only keep making sense toward their endings....
World Embryo - so far so good.....
Soul Eater - Ditto above.... a bit childish sometimes, but still good.
Grim Reaper - NOT as in Shinigami, グリム リーパー (Gurimu riipaa). I like every single one of the two available chapters :)
Most things by Minekura Kazuya are good. Like Saiyuki and Wild Adapter.
Things that appear in Zero Sum are also good.
Nurarihyon no Mago This is an original one (IMO), about youkai and humans.

This is all subject to my edits. I will update when I find new ones or something.
