 :hi:
Gamaran is a good shonen manga in comparesion with other martial arts mangas. I like ho wthe characters are drawn and they-re unique personalities.
The story is ok , problem is that some of the fights are to long drawn over several chapters , and many of them are not needed to do so. Another thing i dislike is the fact that they have split second analysis and conversation in the middle of the fights which makes it to sci fi for my taste.

This is a good manga, it has definitely been worth following. I hope it continues for another 130+ chapters.

I had my doubts about this manwha at first. The plot seemed sketchy at best. I was wrong though, the story progressed very nicely. The characters grew and so did the story. There was never a moment where a character gets some ungodly power instantly. The characters worker hard for their strength and are growing even stronger.
and not to mention every technique they use is logically doable, they always explain how it works when they use the technique. Always makes me wonder if there is people who can do it in real..
I love how the story flow especially the main chara development.. where Gama is already strong from the start not weak chara from the beginning is already hook me good to read it..

It is not a manhwa, it's a manga... I still love it, and I hope it doesn't become as bland as Kenichi...

I too, really like this manga- I don't know much about fighting, but I read a lot of fighting manga.
I have to say, I really like the subtleness of the fighting poses- it reminds me of real sword fighting a lot more than bleach (which isn't a good thing to measure real fighting against, I know).
I think it was fast paced in the beginning, but now....  not so much- but I'm fine with that.
The belief in Gama from Naoshi-sama is really awesome.
Definitely one of the best new shounen series. Though it's not quite new anymore.  :yay: :hero:

I like it because the drawing is good, although now that there was this last chapter 102, it had drugs and is starting to sound a lot like Samurai Deeper Kyo.

he has the formula for a shounen manga down pretty well...
lots of fighting, lots of characters, lots of styles/schools, no messing about - constant forward progress.
i like it cos you always know something will happen!

Just from reading the latest 2 chapters of Gamaran, those hoops that you are referring to are very epic.  Matter of fact this has exceeded my expectation thus far, I didn't expect what happened to come so soon.

This manga is really interesting so far, but it seems like it already set an end to its plot.  Gama is going to eventually face his dad in some form, most likely jumping through a multitude of hoops.  But what happens after that?

thought i'd make a starter thread for this area as i requested it's creation....

the pacing, the ever growing cast of characters and groups, the almost non-stop action, the training, Gama's development, and the little edge of mystery (ie about his dad and the other guys from his school), are all great.
also i like how they dont go on long preachy speeches during fights, and how its ok for characters to die.

Therefore I propose that Gamaran is the best new shounen title for a long time. Discuss.

this manga is the best that have swords fights i have ever seen until today.... it's perfect

ah im glad someone mentioned kenji.
thats a real martial arts manga. has the action, the philosophy and the technical stuff.

i see what you're saying about the pace silv. but soon im guessing the final battles will come which will concentrate mainly on the ogame style rather than all the other minor bad guys

He looks so much like Ichigo now. Even his stance and clothes and his shinigami sword reminds me of Ichigo's appearance once he came back with a Bankai.

On another note, I find that Gamaran evolves too quickly. Soon the mangaka will run out of technical material to use for series and will have to invent enemies and fights. I honestly hoped for a more realistic fighting manga with technical insights like Kenji. That was series was an excellent read for both amateurs and people interested in martial art.

i really like how the latest chapter just skipped the 1 year training and came straight back to the war. thats what we want to see, no bleach-esque stupid delay filler chapters

it's a good serie but it's still too early to say that it fast paced. we still have to see a certain number of people that should appear, like gamaran's father.

I agree with the common opinion here, and i too think its one of the bets new series for a while...
Especially the fast pacing is great. And besides that the enemy is being finished, no talking, no stupid twist of morals, no whatsoever, ...just how its supposed to be.

@Revilenigma: I just know of mag-scans so far.

Gamaran is one of the most awesome shounen that I've read to this date. The character development is awesome and there are no stupid, haughty speeches. What makes this manga really special is the fact that the main character is not a useless cry-baby who always whines.

yeah, there's no fake morals in this series, if you are an enemy, you will be killed, end of story!
likewise there is no guys trying to kill the main, then after their defeat, join them or vow to vollow them til they can defeat them

id agree with you on that too, the artist is doing a good job.
a lot of mangaka seem to photoshop photos for backgrounds  too, or use computer generated ones like in Gantz (who apprantly uses cg for his characters too and draws faces etc on by hand)

Yeah, one thing that really stands out in this manga is the number of killed enemies. Unlike other shonen manga the enemy is pretty much killed off by Gamaran. Btw, is it just me or does Gamaran look like a fusion of Naruto (Edo period) and Bleach (Samurai fights)? Btw, did you notice that the gamaran author still draw backgrounds? Unlike Kishimoto or Kube Tite who quit drawing backgrounds, it is refreshing to see a manga with decent drawings lol. The current series WSJ series like HXH, Naruto, Bleach and OP look so liveless without proper background drawings.
