ok, my turn :3
I'm from South Tyrol, a province in Northern Italy. I only moved around once when I was about 6 j.o. but never went across the border of the province xD
My family has his roots in S.Tyrol, but I have relatives all over the world: Like some in germany, someothers in the USA , another decided to live in Irland...
Sadly I myself never left Europe so far.
At the moment I travel between Italy and Austria due to University (every 2-3 weeks I go home on WE from Friday to Sunday) - I'm studing German and History in order to become a middle/high school teacher. So, I live in Austria at the moment.
I'm lapsed Catholic (until University I was quiet religious). Nonetheless I do belive in a upper force, but don't think of it as a man white beard... it's something more...general.
My parents and the locals are more of the beliver (despite of the general church-elopement (neologism on my part)).
Although form Italy my first language is German, or more precisely a local (german) dialect.
The majority of the peaple here is of Austro-Bavarian heritage (like myself :3) and speaks German. Around a quarter speaks Italian as first language, mainly at to the two largest cities (Bolzano and Merano), and a small minority have Ladin as mother language.
South Tyrol once was part of Austria, until World War I. There it was Italy occupied by Italy at the end of the war and annexed in 1919.
... Sooo, I learnd Italian since I was in 1st grade and English since 4th grade. Last semester I got my Latin certificate due to my studies (Latin is a required language and I sucked at it initially -_-" But I did it *-* ).
Well, it's nice to meet you all
