afaik, only mediafire and ifile.it support download resume, no captcha and no waiting time for non-paying users so those are my favorite filehosting service.

I have been told by the people who run natsuyume that it is down only as a protest measure to raise awareness of the issue among their members.

I go to dozens of sites every day and today no one uploaded anything new.  :p!ssed:

[update] I cannot speak for what's going to happen at natsuyme next, nor here. I'm not in charge in either place.

Agreed, my spyware&malware scanner (not antivirus/firewall) is telling me that there is a strange network activity after clicking on a certain links there. Therefore links to the sites has been removed.

I don't know how genuine this is but we'll see in a few days or so.  For now it keeps on going up and down.

I would remove that link; it's a confirmed phishing site (lololol「pishing」).

Also, I'll do what I can today with reuploading; UL speed is utter shit though, but I have nothing better to do today but Katawa Shoujo.

I feel sick to my stomach thinking about all the hard work and effort put in by so many j24 uploaders and scanners gone in an instant. I hope MU is able to recover in another location soon.

I fear this is only part of a bigger picture. It's about what you will be allowed to see, hear and say on the Net and who determines it. Filthy greedy politicians are selling you down the river at the behest of their corporate enablers.

This isn't just about you're right to download and read manga. It's about the lust for power and control. In the US between the "Patriot Act" and the "National Defense Act of 2012" which Obama just signed into law, all they need is a concocted "state of emergency" and they can shut down the net or replace it with a more heavily monitored and censored version. I'm sure other nations of the world have similar plans in place. Can the "Ministry of Truth" and the "Ministry of Love" be far behind. Frightening times indeed.

I can't honestly express my feelings about this mess. Megaupload was the best there was and it being taken down feels like a stab to the liver... Hurts as hell but you will probably survive... Frankly I was expecting the law to take down the uploaders not the business. This is so wrong... I weep for us and others that relied heavily on it.

Maybe you guys can set up something like minitheatre does, where each user states what series he/she is going to reupload [if he/she wants to]. Just some organizing to be more efficient  :kaede: . I have about a terrabyte and a half of manga (raw/english), I'll reupload what i can, when i can. We will survive  :banzai: .

A dark day indeed and a kick in the crotch for those who primarily relied on it to implement a better ease of access to new stuff here.

I'm still weighing alternative options as I speak and don't have a clear idea on what to settle on. In the meantime, I'd have to ask the other users to not spam the forum with "MU is dead, please reup" messages (who am I kidding? They'll do it anyway).

Merely reupping all that I've brought here lately is a gargantuan task for me and I've been getting more and more hard-pressed for time these past few days. Talk about a sucker punch...

Anyway, I guess we'll have to ask all other users this: if you have recently downloaded files from here, either chapters or volumes whose original links are now dead due to the MU takedown, please try and reupload them yourselves. There'll always be cookies for those who take the time and effort to contribute to the website.

And it'll make the place even livelier. :-)

You know the saying: "the more, the merrier."

If this happens without having passed the law SOUP, What would happen if it passes? :hi: :p!ssed: anyway, if tomorrow is not back on line this is going to get ugly from now on  :p!ssed:.

i know some sites that were megaupload only. Now, that sucks  :redcard:
This SOPA and PIPA bullshit needs to end.  :p!ssed:

While the timing of these arrests may be (and probably is) related to SOPA/PIPA, an investigation of this size must have been going on for many months, and the indictment includes incriminating conversation along with laws which they were not following (especially with how they handled the DMCA).  They would have gone down with or without SOPA/PIPA, as the investigation seems to indicate they were making enormous profits while ignoring the law, so as long as the US has jurisdiction (which it seems they do), the feds had every right to take action here.

That's why a lot of people are sending e-mails to their representatives and senators and even the president about this. Megaupload is just a filesharing site that even has a DMCA policy that lets it shut down uploads that are reported to it.

How the Feds managed to shut these guys down is horrible.

Megaupload taken down by the Feds, and my topics and threads
« Reply #9 on: January 20, 2012, 06:36:19 AM »
 :p!ssed:

Everyone, if you haven't yet heard Megaupload has been taken down by the U.S. government, working with several other countries. Although MU claims they will be back and running shortly, I'm seeing conflicting information and I'm not convinced that anything will be resolved quickly. I do know that 7 people have been arrested, and probably more will come.

Like many people, I have used Megaupload fairly exclusively - at least until I retired. I've done some checking and every link of mine that I checked is currently down, with no real expectation to come back. They might, but I'm not counting on it.

The funny thing is, this wasn't aimed at us. Lately most of MU's traffic has been mixtapes and porn.

I can't speak for everyone here, but for me this presents a big problem. I started a lot of threads still in active use here at Winny Club, and they're all effectively dead as of this writing. I know how many volumes I uploaded and trust me, if MU stays down there is no easy fix. I always told Silverado and the gang here that I would maintain my links, but this is for me a game changer.

I don't have a solution to this yet, although I'm considering various options. MU may be back tomorrow - they released a press release saying that they will - in Hong Kong - and if so then there is nothing to fret about. But if not I need to ask a favor of everyone:

Please don't send me private messages about broken links. I know they're broken. For those of us who have relied on Megaupload we already know that there is a problem. Please make requests in threads, like most of you already do. Winny club has thrived without me guiding things for over 2 years now, and I'm sure other members can pick up the slack.

As for my own contributions - don't count me out.

fileserve is terrible for free users
600-1200 seconds of waiting time, wrong captcha issues, etc. etc.

i wonder why some users still using it

use mediafire or megaupload instead, or less known such badongo, uploadstation or deposit files

I agree with megaupload and mediafire  :yay: . Well, mediafire is fast and has no wait time, and i have never had a problem uploading  to megaupload, well not never sometimes upload got disconnected half way through  :p!ssed: .

Filesonic for me is the worst for downloading and uploading for me at least , even though i have a premium Filesonic account. Sometimes download stops for no reason and when i resume it starts from the beginning, My account logs out constantly  :twitching: . it really is a pain.

Uploading sometimes is very slow, and i had my account frozen like 3 times for suspicion of spamming, and my ip blocked  :twitching:  :sigh: . took 3 days each time for them to unblock me.

Mediafire & Megaupload

No other host can really compare on speed and ease of use. Hotfile and Filesonic have that long waiting period that just drives any downloader nuts. I've let personal files on my mediafire account and completely forgot about them for more than 1 year and they were still there when I went back (they were small .txt files, don't know if it matters).

From past experience uploading on different sites, the file host I usually go back to is Megaupload. Biggest reasons for me are quick upload speeds and I've yet to have a file get corrupted while transferring as I have with several other file hosts.  I'd say a larger chunk of the uploaders out there are concerned more about upload rewards they get from the sites they use, instead of what's easiest or most convenient for the people that are downloading.  Since the only stuff I ever upload these days are manga/anime I translate myself, I like to use file hosts that are both convenient for me as well as convenient for the downloader.

From a downloaders perspective, Megaupload and Mediafire are two of the better, because you don't have to wait for long periods of time between downloads in order to begin a new download.

Mediafire is an ideal file host since it doesn't need premium users to download multiple files - unlike Rapidshare, Filefactory and Megaupload. The downside of MF is when the file was never been downloaded even once, it will be deleted - as same as RS and Filefactory.

In MU, the file can still be preserve for a long time...well according to my own experience. :am:

But lately I'm using Ziddu. You can download multiple files without any premium account, and the files can be preserve for a long time. Only the downside is the limited capacity of 200 MB even though it has an unlimited storage, and the long downloading time.   :sob:

We'll, if you turn off your pop-up blocker then download the file, you can download the file faster  :hahaha:

To all uploaders :

1. Whenever possible, you should to use more than 1 website each time you upload something so the uploaded files can last longer.

2. Chapters should be uploaded without any passwords as they are of small size and it's also more troublesome for the uploaders to each time encrypt the files.
