I doubt they could track any of them by just getting the packages sending out from their computer if they use encryption. All they could do is tracking down heavy downloaders. In a legal sense, you need proof to charge for a crime. For me, I think the main aim for this is to cut down traffic usage and they could earn more...

Pirate Bay was gonna do this thing earlier :yay:
The problem is, who's going to provide the contents? Are you going to draft otakus into living in your new island? Ones who will buy these goods and scan them non-stop? But then they'll just counter it with a trade embargo, banning exports of mangas and animes to your country.

Yea I read this on torrentFreak. I must say I don't like the sound of this, because they could affect the outflow of raws from japan.

I've read it's this cost of supporting heavy international internet traffic some ISPs are more concerned about. Connecting to servers in another country served by a different ISP means they have to pay that other ISP for your usage.

uhmm i doubt it's just to counter piracy.. i think it's a way to cut some bandwidth (as you know only those who use p2p progs make full use of their bandwidths) and thus save a lot of money.. something like that happened in italy for some time already..
yes this is very true.
mostly ppl who are downloading and uploading on p2p networks and trackers are the ones who use there banwith to its fullest and most of the time there wanting more.(hell i want more)
So its not only a way to get the asshole lawers off there backs but a cheap and pathitic way to save money.
ofc we the users alwas find ways around everything.

LONG LIVE PIRACY!
ARRGGG!
Also free Tibet.

And think of all the money they waste, trying to stop piracy.
maybe thats why they want to stop it, they go in the hole trying so when they dont suceed they can blame their lack of money on poor sales due to piracy.
There wasting money trying to stop it.
If they did nothing than they would spend less money.

Many ppl dont know how to download shit off the internet.
They will use itunes or something only because they have an ipod and pay for there music that way.
Many ppl dont know how to download pirated programs and movies.
So its not like what there doing is preventing ppl from doing it.
Since all those who know how to steal off the internet will remain pirates regardless of the law.
So in other words there wasting more money preventing piracy then if they where to do nothing.

That's the reason he bought computer in the first place. :hahaha:

Piracy is wrong is probably every country, but what about cyberspace? No one owns cyberspace, so no one can make laws for it, even though there's still some onwritten rules. :yay:

Its true i suppose, though that never stops them from trying. Many of the US Senators and officials keep trying, the thing is, if you ban it in a country itll just move to another, and as you said Cyberspace is universal, meaning you simply cant stop it from existing. Piracy actually helps promote some bands, while cutting sales a bit(considering millions are still sold each year i doubt its gunna hurt them much anyways) it really just serves as a added way of getting music out there.

Besides we all know banning or illegalizing somthing just increases its chances of appearing. and likely more people will do it just because they can.

And really theres little left that can be transfered via internet that hasnt been pirated so why fight the enevitable, just make everything free and stop fighting over money.

There is always talk about stopping piracy but in my opinion its all bull shit and useless. Pirates will always find away around the governments measures to stop them. On the fact that these companies are reseveing pressure from movie and music "industries" I dont see why other countries should give a flying fuck.
those faggets have enough money already and deserve to be sued them selfs.
Trying to place the blame on ISPs for not controlling what ppl do is bull shit.
It's almost impossable to tack what millions of ppl are doing at any given time.
Tacking ppl is not only nazi but a waste of money.

lol...

Really though they'd probably have to kick half the internet users off to stop this entirely. Theres only like 8 million file sharing sites...many of which are free. They try but really its just a cycle of not really trying that hard.

And I think there will always be a way to counter it, i don't know perharps dynamic IP, peerguardian, proxy, or Crypted P2P,... and if it doesn't exist right now i'm sure someone will invent one  :twinkle: (well i hope)
Or Maybe i'll have to change country  :hahaha: Damn.

Yeah i heard about it in France. The thing is:
- they tell to your provider that you dl illegal stuff
- the provider send you an email asking you to stop it.
- If you keep downloading it the provider have to stop your account.

But you can still ask an other provider for a connection if i remember.

I hate that Law!!! the politics who made that law are a lot of more corrupt than us. i hate that...

edit: for France, they'll track especially Music stuff. I don't think they'll track not-licenced Anime and manga.

Japan's ISPs to ban file sharers!!!
« Reply #1 on: March 17, 2008, 03:35:11 AM »
Following a huge increase in complaints from the music, movie and software industries, the four major Japanese ISP organizations have agreed that they will work with copyright holders to track down copyright infringing file-sharers and disconnect them from the internet.

In 2006, a Japanese ISP decided to plan measures to stop their subscribers using file-sharing software, by tracking their activities and disconnecting them from the Internet. The plan didn’t come to fruition as the government stepped in and said that such monitoring might have privacy implications.

Now, under huge pressure from the movie, music and software industries, the four major ISP organizations in Japan are at it again, and have agreed to take drastic action against online pirates.

According to the report in Yomiuri Shimbun, the agreement would see copyright holders tracking down file-sharers on the Internet using “special detection software” and then notifying ISPs of alleged infringers. ISPs would first send out emailed warnings to those traced, then interrupt the Internet connection if action to cease the activity isn’t taken. For persistent breaches, the ISP would ultimately terminate the accounts of its subscribers.

These four major ISP organizations - which include Telecom Service Association and the Telecommunications Carriers Association - are made up of around 1,000 other ISPs, a large portion of the Japanese market. In collaboration with the copyright holders, the ISPs will set up a panel in April to decide exactly how the system should operate.

Right now, there is a lot discussion surrounding the suggestion that persistent file-sharers could be banned from the internet. So far there have been proposals in France, the UK and Australia.

During December last year we reported that the number of internet users file-sharing in Japan had increased by a 180% in a single year.

that is true?
