 :hi:よ!Kuro here from Bicol.

I just want to ask you guys how can I learn kanji in an efficient way, because i'm not really satisfied with my progress 110+ kanji(basics such as 一, 二and 三) per month. :onionfacepalm:

I really want to know how to read Japanese as fast as possible because i know that there's a lot of great treasure waiting for me. :evil-thought:

Hello!! I'm from Manila! (boring~)

Share lang, we just came back from Tokyo. Nung andun kami, one night we went to a bar, tapos lasing na lasing yung 2 japanese girls sa harap namin and may kasama silang foreigners din so kung anu-ano na sinasabi namin in Tagalog (we assumed na walang nakakaintindi sa amin), tapos biglang may japanese looking guy na pumunta sa table, "mga ate, pwede ba kami sumama sa table nyo at maki-inom? Gusto kayo makilala ng girlfriend ko!" It was a weird experience but a lesson that pinoys or half-pinoys are really everywhere and you don't know who'll be listening into your conversation!

Sorry, sorry. Racket, as in, Filipino racket. Or was it raket? Wtvr. It's when u do various side jobs. "Rumaracket nanaman sila ulit" or something.

oooohhh... i haven't heard of it (;^ω^)

and i assumed Filipino doesn't usually have the 'C' besides proper nouns

Slr people!!! Busy ako last week, tumanda nanaman ako ulet e. Tch.  :stabby:

At least for Japanese, I can just meet my uncle in Japan and ask him for free lessons  :wahaha:
'Cause I might be going to Japan for vacay next month :elephantdancef: I'm going to be so freaking broke---food and anime merch, haha   GG if I go during Holy Week--- the crowds :ohnose:

I love watching japanese movies, am I a living with lies?!  :onionfacepalm:
Don't take it to heart. The subs don't need to be the direct translation for you to understand wth's happening, right? :wahaha:
Naglalaro ka ng japanese games? yung hindi translated. Naiintindihan mo after the classes?
Oh, yes! Of course! Lumaki akong naglalaro ng games at almost lahat ay in Japanese since sa Japan lahat binili. Kapa kapa nalang tapos yung mga madadaling tandaan na character, keep them in mind. Pero since nagaral ako ng hiragana and katakana, I can read and understand what it's about sometimes. Nadadali nga lang ako sa kanji. Just saying, I tried to translate a Light freaking Novel and 2 pages took a freaking ONE HOUR!!! :stabby: I used google translate using my ipad and scanned a page. Hindi ko maintindihan yung translation ng google so I go after the romaji. Dun ko lang siya naintindihan. Pathetic no? :onionfacepalm:
Mahirap ba matutong japanese?
That depends on each person. Btw, my younger bro learned Japanese through speaking with our dad and watching anime with no subs all day long. A downside to that, hindi siya masyado marunong ng formal speech. Ore type kasi yung dad namin.

I took a basic Japanese class back in the Philippines which lasted 10 sessions. All we studied there were Aisatsu, Jikan, Hiragana, Katakana and a little bit of Kanji. Totally not enough to learn how to converse in Japanese. But... enough to know that most of the time, the freaking subtitles in movies are LIES!  :stabby:

True, true. There's LOTS of sites and apps that could help in reading & writing, but talking to locals seem to be really effective for learning spoken

At least for Japanese, I can just meet my uncle in Japan and ask him for free lessons  :wahaha:

Oh yeah, for Formal Japanese, some forms sound so different from normal/casual speeches-- especially the very formal ones

Have to fix murmuring problems tho... can't speak as well as I write for any language I know

Ikr. Englog is just so painful to the ears. Taglish is, in a way, more reasonable. There are a lot of English words that doesn't have a direct Tagalog translation and it's easier to just use the English word in your sentence. Not to mention, pure Tagalog is nosebleed worthy. :wahaha: For me, that is. English-speaking Chinese school, ne. Sounds expensive. Wahaha!

I can understand most of what they're saying but not word per word. I try to pay attention to every word they say to familiarize myself with how they use words, the tense, but... can't say I have a good memory.  :onionfacepalm: I'm more familiar with casual speech than formal so I add ~desu when I want to be polite and still be casual. Haha! When watching movies, I'm usually like, "Wtf?! That's not what they said!" when I see wrongly translated subs.

Filipino- My main language. Good at it, of course. Can't say the same academically tho.  :wahaha:
English- Feels natural to use when online and so unnatural when off. LOL
Japanese- Not enough to have a smooth conversation with someone. I usually add in Tagalog words.

Ah well, good luck to us. Learning foreign language is no walk in the park.

I see your point. Hahaha! I'm fine with Taglish but not Englog(?). It's just... unbearable. Englog just sound so awkward. I feel like killing when I hear Englog. Ugh.
During Filipino class, my Filipino grammar and pronunciation is so bad, that the teacher would allow me to speak English half the time--- I'm in an English-speaking Chinese school in the Philippines... .-.
I'm getting more used to hearing Taglish, but I'll never get over Englog/Conyo----- I wanna shoot paintballs up their mouths ಠ__ಠ
But my problem now is that I forget some tagalog words and in my mind is the Japanese word. And when I use the Japanese word, people who doesn't understand just questions me more. -___- I mean, what's the point of saying it in another language if they're still making me say what it means?
That's why I decided to use English 3/4 the time. Chinese and other languages are compressed in that 1/4 so...  :whoosh:
Oh yeah. You seem more knowledgeable in Japanese than me. 羨ましい!敬語にがてだからさ。╮( ̄へ ̄)╭ I took a basic Japanese class back in the Philippines which lasted 10 sessions. 実話さ。。。
Sorry, please read the forum rules to see why you can't view spoilers and why you can't post in this forum section. Thank you!
Once you get used to listening a certain language, you can get a clearer idea without looking at the subs
My Language Proficiency:
English- BEST (with good spelling to boot o(`ω´ )o)
Filipino- 2nd (putok ang gramatika at hindi kaya puro Tagalog)
Chinese- 3rd (not enough for daily life in China)
Japanese-4th (我流)
You can swear at people with a smile on your face and they won't know a thing. Shhh!
I can curse in 4 languages and 2 dialects, hell yeah it's fun (thanks to relatives)
edit: added some stuff

yeah, something like sticking to the rules--- 'cause it takes more time to understand stuff written with different languages (i just have a personal dislike for Taglish and other conyo--- it seems lowly by my standards)
haha, that does seem sorta S-> making fun of ppl who cant understand what you're saying--- making yourself look more intelligent than them  :wahaha:
-- kinda like how I used 4 different languages on my earlier post  :evil-thought: what I typed in Filipino, Japanese and Chinese were all rants on how bad I am on it tho.... lol

Ahh. You must be the serious type. Stick by the rules, I guess. Although that's just the first thought that entered my mind.  :wahaha: So, you're not into Taglish then. When online, I prefer using English and Tagalog when I'm off. I use Japanese only when it's absolutely necessary(conversing with a 日本人), when I'm angry or when I feel like making fun of someone who doesn't understand what I'm saying. (...this is what u call an S right? With this kind of reason.. XD)

One thing though, I hate mixing languages in one sentence--- if there's a decent translation of that, would use if possible

Kamusta! Taga-Maynila ako. Mas magaling ako sa Ingles kaysa Tagalog, kaya yun nalang ginagamit ko online

私はまだ日本語を勉強しています! 正直、わたしの漢字もっと酔いしています。でも、わたし輪もお勉強します。よろしくお願いします! :trala:
我认识汉字因为我学了汉语很多年了。可是,日语有很多字从繁体中文,简体中文,和日本自己做的汉语。为什么会这么难??啊,我知道了。是因为我的中文水平还是HSK2。。。 :whoosh:

to those who can't understand 50% of this thing, good luck lololol
