Perfect Dark is a new file sharing program in Japan and possibly the successor to Share and Winny.

1) Download Perfect Dark version 0.992
Starting with version 0.992 Perfect Dark uses an English interface.

<a href="http://www.anonym.to/?http://www.divshare.com/download/3438184-093" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.divshare.com/download/3438184-093</a>

2.1) Start "perfect dark.exe"

3) Configuration

Create a nickname

4) Go to http://www.hayasoft.com/syumi/dark/ and copy the nodes. It should look like this

5) Navigation

IMPORTANT:
"perfect dark is offline" indicates that it's offline.
"perfect dark is online" in BLUE LETTERS: normal mode.
"perfect dark is online" in RED LETTERS indicates that it can't open the port.
*Try Port: 25975 if you have port problems.

6) Adding Files

7) Rating Files

In order to rate a file and to give it a postive or negative feedback, click on the ?? tab. Right-click a file and choose
(G) for high-quality
(N) for average
(B) for fake/mislabeled/virus-infected
Everyone's feedback translates into a positive or negative integer in the ?? column on the search and download tabs.

Hi, I'm using 1.02 and having some trouble.
It connects just fine (I have a 2mbps DSL line), but:
1) Uploading is extremely slow. The send speed is stuck at around 20 kb\s, when it should be around 150
2) I can't download. Even though it uses the incoming channel almost to the max (150 kb\s of the possible 200), downloads don't progress and unity grow very, very slowly. It seems to be.. uh... downloading something else? Disregard that, downloads took off when Unity reached 100 MB.

After adding keyword search string for a specific file, does perfectdark keep searching it automatically ?

in winny and share, having a trigger function for file download  automatically .
We can add files to download by hash, filename pattern  match, id, etc published by someone

does perfectdark has such function too ?

Yes, it needs to fill up its cache with 2 gb first before it starts to download.

Sooo, for people who get slow downloads with PD.. I needed to set connection type up to 8Mbit/T1 to get decent download speeds, otherwise it used like 1/4 of my bandwith (on 2Mbit line).

Hi,

I had a question regarding file upload.
When I start perfect dark, the gui shows that it is sending something.
Whom are we sending and what are we sending

perfect dark automatically creates a temp folder with random file pieces called "cache". traffic is in and outgoing since you automatically share the file pieces, that are downloaded to your pc. this is to make the files of other people stay online as long as possible. remember pd was made for HIGH BANDWIDTH users. it's not like emule where you only need 10 KB/s upload in order to be able to download something.

Any tips how to speed up my downloads? PD downloads only a small fraction of the files, stops, resumes, repeats and this goes on for days. The downloading files often get highlighted in red and I have no clue what that means, since the download does resume in time. I would guess it means that there aren’t any users available at the moment with the certain file but that’s only a guess. So far I have not seen the "promised" high speed downloads even though I have 10/10m connection. PD only uses 270 Kbit/s max anyway.

I have tried to set the connection type to T8 but that doesn't really solve the issue. Could it be because I'm from Netherlands and Japan in not really that close to me?

BTW: Thank you for the manual

your maximum bandwidth can only be achieved by proxy servers from your provider. in order to establish an oversea connection this big you would have to move closer to one of the main servers

270 KB/s is lucky, i get sometimes only 20 KB/s. sometimes 400 KB/s. I even downloaded dragonball complete with 40 KB/s. So YOU haven't even tasted pain, yet!

Hello,
I still have a question,
when I uploaded some files, why I can't find all files when I search for it?

Are the files automatic removed after some time?

I have no clue how the search cluster works. Your files are probably uploaded to the nearest ip. If the guy with your files is not offline and your files unpopular, then you won't find it again

Thx Silverado for all the help explaining the setup of PD, I actually used the program when it was 0.880 and recently tried to install the newest one.  I never had a problem before but now encounter the port forward error :/, All firewalls were disabled, I opened a designated port, and did everything I did from 0.880 to get it working, im really confused as to why this port-forward error is even still coming up :/

There's a problem when I add upload files, it'd create a duplicate cache in unity folder. My HDD need to be doubled or even trippled if I use more than one p2p software.

I thought I'd ask here instead of making a new thread. I need some help. I was downloading Perfect Dark all happy-like when I had a blue screen on my computer. It's not overly unusual, I had an error with my MBR that I hope I've fixed. However, when I loaded up Perfect Dark, I noticed that it had reset my download to zero percent! I'm about to cry if I have to download a 30-gig file that I had at 88.8% start over at 0%...

The file in the unity folder is still there, I can see it, but Perfect Dark isn't reading it. Is there a way to force it rehash that download or something? I don't want to start over... It's done this once before, but it came back and I don't know how...

help?
