To my own demise, I was born in a family of bibliophile. My dad is an IT manager so he filled our house with IT, hacking and tech books. Meanwhile, my mom was an artist, then a news-reporter, then a house-wife. She bought for me, herself and my dad (who is also a book-eating-machine) a house full of books, novels, health-care books, science books (I love biology btw), religious books... about 20 3-meters-tall bookshelves and a bunch on beds and a lot more everywhere in the house.
Sooooo.... bad news: I immigrated to Canada. I moved, and the problem is: There are no Airplane that can take all those books with us: We have to left 'em all behind. We all cried inside, a lot. right now, I only have a bunch of books about mathematics, biology and 2 or 3 books in Français, some course books and nothing else... I have to borrow books from libraries to eat everyday, it's like a daily meal for the head to me.
Any help?

Have read all these books at least 2 - 5 times.
I absolutely adore reading have been an avid reader since 12yrs. old and much younger just can't really remember when exactly, was always reading from what I remember. Have around 200 - 500 books, have never counted them, just keep buying more of the ones I like so I can read them at anytime.
Of course started with the usual for a child - Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Famous Five, C.S.Lewis Series
Favourite Authors :  Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey, Jude Deveraux, Judith McNaught, Lissanne Norman, David Weber, John Ringo, Andre Norton, Robert Jordan, Terry Hatchet,Jayne Anne Krentz / Jayne Castle / Amanda Quick, Shelly Laurenston / G.A. Aiden, Garth Nix, Tamora Pierce, Robin McKinley, so many more just to name a few off the top of my head.
First Historical Suprenatural Romance I ever read was Dawn Of Desire
First Sci-Fi DragonRiders of Pern
Firsr Romantic Sci-fi Gift of Gold
There are just so much to read but so little time. :wahaha: :wahaha: :wahaha: :wahaha: :XD: :XD:

I read Howl's Moving Castle, but not Castle in the Air.  The book was tooootally better than the movie, although I did like Billy Crystal's performance as Calcifer.  Even though Calcifer was totally supposed to be a scary fire demon-y thing, and the movie made him into a melty gum drop.

Have you read Howl's Moving Castle or the sequel Castle in the Air?  I tracked them down because the first one was made into a movie but her originals are really funny.  :XD:

Oh yay!  When I read Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones, I was totally hooked.  I have read so much of her stuff, it's almost embarrassing.  Chrestomanci was one of the coolest story arcs I have ever come across, and Derkholm was just soooo funny.

Yay books!

Fave genres: pretty much fantasy and sci-fi, but branching out.

Fave authors: Diana Wynne Jones, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Brian Jacques, Michael Crichton

I recently read Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, it was sooooo good!! Very cool fantasy horror-ish kinda thing.

Currently reading: a book called "Fashion Babylon." It's kind of my guilty pleasure, a Devil Wears Prada-type book

It would be really a shame if not... But, when the movie came out, I asked a bit some of my non-german friend if they knew the book... They declined T.T

On another note... Did you change your avatar right now?

I don't know if this is translated in English.

World Domination is delayed , planned burnings of those who burn books is scheduled for the first Monday of every month, and we're handing out Green Eggs and ham to 5 year olds without any food....

O.O All admirable activities^.^

A while back I asked what kinds of things people wanted to do in this club, but no one answered.  So if you've got some ideas for activities, let me know, Aoi-chan!  :yay:

Will have to think about that, but the moment I get an idea, I`ll let you know mbio-chan.

When was i VP? LMAO.

that said...no. and our "leader" has been mia since September 25...we have no leader, so bio you can take the helm if you wanted.

Um... Your "leader" said something about his courses starting up again soon and that he wouldn`t be able to visit often... If I remember correctly...

And... Can I join, even with him gone at the moment?

For books, my favourite genres are scifi and fantasy, for manga scifi and fantasy, too, but mecha especially and also genderbender.

Favourite books are:

David Eddings: The Elenium Trilogy, The Tamuli Trilogy

E.E. "Doc" Smith: The Lensman Cycle

Wolfgang and Heike Hohlbein: The Märchenmond (Magic Moon) Trilogy, The Enwor Cycle, Underland, The Gryphon, The Prophecy

Timothy Zahn: Star Wars - The Thrawn Trilogy, The Hand of Thrawn Series, Allegiance

Kathy Tyers: Star Wars - Truce at Bakura

Alan Dean Foster: Star Wars - Splinter of the Mind`s Eye

Steve Perry: Star Wars - Shadows or the Empire

Dave Wolverton: Star Wars - The Courtship of Pricess Leia

Kristine Rusch: Star Wars - The New Rebellion

Ummm, do I meet the requirement?

*laugh*  The problem is that the founder came up with all these things he wanted to do for the club himself.  I don't mind taking the initiative, but I don't want to step on his toes especially since a lot of this was his idea.  Unfortunately he hasn't shown up in a while.
